This Directorate has 2 (two) Mobile Forensic Units and 2 (two) District Mobile Forensic Units. Each unit is headed by Scientific Officers assisted by Scientific Assistants, Attendants, Drivers, and attached police personnel. The duties of MFU include:-

1. Crime Scene Investigation.
2. To guide the Investigating Officers (IOs) in the collection, preservation, and forwarding of exhibits to competent laboratories.
3. Dispatch Crime scene reports.
4. To attend the court of law for expert opinion.
5. To impart training to Judges, IOs, Medico-legal students.
6. To enhance coordination between Police, Forensic and Medico-legal experts.
7. To make it more effective, convenient, and easier for the crime scene investigation team to respond and reach the crime scene.

Teams of Mobile Forensic Unit render service for crime scene investigation both day and night to assist the Law Enforcement Agencies in attending cases of urgent nature.
